ROYAL BERKSHIRE HOSPITAL: Having a 'Remote' helipad

I think it shows the longest distance a patient in severe distress in the UK, transported by helicopter, has to be carried from the helicopter to A&E?

NOTES:  I think this is very interesting. Unlike virtually every other major hospital in the UK, the Royal Berkshire Hospital has been developed to deliberately avoid having a helipad. Indeed, if you look at the comments made by the management on-line, they can see no benefits from having one - quite the opposite.

Instead they have an arrangement with the nearby Reading School to use their playing field. An unusual if not unique arrangement?

This approach seems at odds with everything we are told today, when every minute counts after a very severe accident? Especially one requiring an Air Ambulance.
