Aberystwyth

ABERYSTWYTH: Temporary aerodrome?

NOTES: Visited by the Alan Cobham 1934 UK Tour displaying on the 16th and 17th July.

As mentioned several times elsewhere in this 'Guide', all the locations used by the major 'Flying Circus' operators in the late 1920s and 30s, were officially licensed aerodromes even if only used for one day.

For several years these locations had to be inspected, surveyed and approved by men, (usually two arriving by car), from the Air Ministry. Later on approved operators could be self-certifying, presumably because the Air Ministry felt they were by now quite capable.
