Ackleton

Note: This map gives only the location of the village within the UK, not the airfield.

ACKLETON: Military aerodrome or RLG perhaps?

Military users: RAF?,

Note: Possibly 577 Sqdn with Vultee Vengeances on target-towing duties?

Location: Apparently, or should I say possibly, E of Ackleton? Ackleton village is just N of the B4176, roughly 4nm NE of Bridgnorth

NOTES: It appears that photographs of aircraft operating from here, (pictured on the ground), were displayed in a local pub a few years ago.

I suspect this airfield was known by another name in WW2. Can anybody help out here?
