Addlestone Moor

Notes: This map shows the rough location of Addlestone Moor within the UK. Today I suspect the Saunders-Roe factory was in this area and the flying took place from CHERTSEY MEADS just to the NE. Any advice on this will be most welcome.

ADDLESTONE MOOR: Flight testing for Supermarine Walrus types

Operated by: Saunders-Roe

NOTES: It would seem that after Cowes was bombed in WW2 Walrus sub-contract production was partly transferred here. Construction/assembly being undertaken in Addlestone. However, in 2011 I discovered another opinion, see CHERTSEY MEAD

The old Plessey Radar factory at Addlestone had a small heliport; several Jetrangers operated in/out in the mid/late '70s.; I think the operation moved to Brooklands when the factory closed.
