Aldbourn
Note: This map simply shows the location of Aldbourne village within the UK. If anybody can provide a more precise position for the venue, this advice will be most welcome.
ALDBOURN: Temporary aerodrome?
NOTES: Aldbourn is presumably now spelt as ALDBOURNE on the B4192 about 5nm NW of Hungerford? Just why Aldbourn was an attractive venue for the Cobham enterprise in 1933 seems to remain a mystery but it appears they displayed on the 5th October. This said, an attraction like this would draw people from a wide area.

Do you have any further details of this 1933 event or location, please? Was it part of Cobham’s Flying Circus. There are still a couple of private airstrips nearby, and also the remnants of WW2 airfields, but never heard of an airfield in Aldbourne. Thanks.

Have done some more research and have found an article from the North Wilts Herald from 29th Sept 1933 advertising the 5th October visit of Alan Cobham. They mention a 'temporary aerodrome on the Swindon - Marlborough Road, near Chiseldon". According to the local historians this was probably what is now Lower Upham private airfield, which is within the parish of Aldbourne. Thanks.
