Notes:   All four of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

Operated by:  Finnoch Flying Club?

Location: E of the A78 and Wemyss Bay village, about 1nm S of Inverkip and roughly 6nm SW of Greenock

Period of operation:  Unknown but brief.  Perhaps 2010 to 2013?

Runway:  01/19    (About)   400   grass

NOTES: The initial information regarding this strip came from the AAIB report EW/G2009/06/28 and seems to indicate that a notional runway of 02/20 was being used, (marked out?).

We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for locating this airstrip in May 2021. I failed miserably, so all credit to Graham. I found one other attempt to locate this airstrip on the inter-web, and it was way off.

Unfortunately the Google Earth © dating system is not at all reliable - but still the best we have by and large. According to Google Earth the airstrip did not exist in 2009, and seems to have been abandoned in 2012? By 2014 it seems two large wind turbines had been installed.

As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
