Ardley

Note: This map only shows the position of Ardley village within the UK. If anybody can kindly give a more exact location for this airstrip, this advice will be much appreciated.

ARDLEY: Private airstrip

Location: In/near Ardley which today is just SW of junction 10 on the M.40

NOTES: A listing published in 1977, Residents at Aerodromes in Britain by P B Enterprises (Aero) states that six aircraft were based at this strip.

But so far (2005) this is the only mention I have found of its existence. These were: Taylorcraft Plus D G-AHXE, Piper J-3C-65 Cub G-AKAA, DH.82A Tiger Moths G-ANEZ, G-ANPK & G-AOET plus the AJEP Tailwind G-BDAP. Call me a sentimental old fool, I won’t deny it, but if I die and go to heaven, (unlikely?), I’m hoping there will be a strip like this where I’m welcome to fly from in such aircraft. No Cessna 172 mentioned, but you cannot have it all.
