ASKERWELL: Temporary gliding site

Location: On Eggardon Hill, roughly 0.5 to 1nm NNE of Askerwell village. which is just N of the A35. Roughly 4nm NE of Bridport?

Period of operation: July 5th and 6th 1930

 

NOTES: It appears this venue was selected to host a two day event featuring soaring ‘exhibitions’ by Herr Kronfeld to demonstrate the capabilities of the latest German gliders. The Dorset Gliding Club were based at LULWORTH in this period.
