A Guide to the history of British flying sites within the United Kingdom

Astley

Note: This map only gives the position of Astley village within the UK.

ASTLEY: Private helipad

Location: In/near Astley just S and/or E of the A451, about 2.5nm SSW of Stourport-on-Severn

NOTES: This listing is, I must admit, just a bit of fun to see how various fairly obscure bits of information pan out. I found this listing for ASTLEY from a publication in the mid 1970s and then later discovered that the Brantley 305 G-ATLO was based here registered to Freemans of Bewdley (Aviation) Ltd. A quick look at the map shows that Bewdley is about 4.5nm N to NNW of Astley.

As pointed out many times elsewhere in this 'Guide' I have no intention whatsoever of even attempting the listing of sites used by helicopters for private purposes, or even many for commercial purposes.. It would be a ridiculous exercise at best. But, I do think that this 'Guide' has to reflect their existence by giving just a few examples.
