NOTES: I had first read that the ATWICK aerodrome was on a racecourse near Hull, but I now reckon this is utter bunkum? Fortunately Mike Easington of Cross & Cockade put me on the right track.
It appears, that is so often the case for Squadrons based in the north-east of England, that none of these had the opportunity to be engaged in combat. In effect they had a very dull and tedious war, which I suppose must have been very frustrating indeed for those pilots engaged in this futile exercise.

This comment was written on: 2020-07-12 12:37:36Hi. I can forward you on further information about Atwick Airfield if you would like to send me an e-mail. Two aeroplanes were launched from the RNAS to intercept the Zeppelin which attacked Goole on the night of the 9th August 1915.
