A Guide to the history of British flying sites within the United Kingdom

Axford

Note: This map only shows the position of Axford village within the UK. Although from my point of view it is always satisfying to have a precise location, this is not the primary purpose of the 'Guide' which is more concerned with recording the existence of flying sites to help illustrate and celebrate the fabulous and unique aviation history we have in the UK.

AXFORD: Private helipad

Operated by: The Sopwith family?

Location: Axford is on the B3046 about 6nm SSW of Basingstoke town centre

NOTES: A helipad has been listed here from the 1970s through to the 1990s and possibly still exists? As a general rule private helipads are not being listed in this 'Guide' but as it seems this one belongs to the Sopwith family I reckon it deserves a mention at least. Sopwith being one of the great names in UK aviation history.
