Operated by: 2001: Bidford Gliding Centre

1981:  Avon Soaring Centre

Maintenance: Bidford Gliding Centre (Gliders & powered aircraft)

Location: Near Bidford-on-Avon, 3nm SSE of Alcester, 4nm E of Evesham

Period of operation: 1990s to present day only?

Runway: 2001: 06/24   800x100    grass
Note: A picture on Google Earth dated 2007 shows that, in common with many gliding sites, they tend to have a grass operating area rather than a runway as such. Orientated roughly 05/23 it appears to be about 785 metres long, about 70 metres wide at the SW end and roughly 115 metres wide at the NE end.

NOTES: Also used by motor gliders. In 2005 was the Acrosport 2 G-NEGG now based here? It was shown as flying into Flying for Fun at KEMBLE, (2005), from here and was still based here in 2009. G-AYBP a Jodel D112 and Jodel DR1050 G-AYEH were based here in 2006.

In 2013 a “Classic Wings & Wheels” event was planned for the 27th May Bank Holiday. This illustrates how, in 2013 when so many in the GA fraternity were feeling rather downtrodden and depressed, others were taking an upbeat approach.
