Note:  The first two pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©, the area view from my Google Earth © derived database.

Location:  Just N of Bogs Lane, in turn N of the A59, about 2nm NE of Harrogate town centre

Period of operation:  1974

Runway:  Reputed to be 200 yards  (183 metres)   Probably roughly N/S

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide' to thank for unearthing evidence of this strip briefly existing. It appears that in 1974 Mr Richard Duggleby had acquired the Jodel D112 G-BAWM, and had laid out a strip just north of Bogs Lane where he intended to base it. And indeed have provided a rudimentary hangar.

The local residents had made a petition to oppose this development, but they needn't have worried. It now seems he made a heavy landing resulting in serious damage - G-BAWM being written off. It should be noted that he was never registered as being an owner of this aircraft in official records.
