Location:  W of the A1064, roughly 1nm NE of Acle

Period of operation: Early 2000s to -

Runways:  2003:   16/34   460x23   grass        09/27   265   grass
Later:  Just 16/34   460   grass

NOTES:  What I find interesting is that right from the start, at the northern end of runway 16/34, there is an off-set starter extension. What a good idea - it can make all the difference giving a five to ten knot advantage to the take-off roll.

When I started flying from a 'farm strip' I was taught to take every advantage of any space available. Even if it meant starting the take-off roll in the opposite direction, and then swinging around with full power applied. This is not the normal procedure taught by most flying schools, but it makes a lot of sense.

In later years in marginal conditions I often advised a fellow pilot with less experience, to use the same method. For example to start their take-off roll from the taxi-way, and was surprised at how often they were reluctant to do this.
