NOTES: Sir Alan Cobham's 1933 No.1 Tour commenced at CENTRAL PARK, Dagenham in ESSEX on the 14th April. The plan was to visit 116 venues and this was the 65th venue. It ended at CHERTSEY LANE, Staines, in MIDDLESEX on the 8th of October. As far as is known to date, (2023), all these venues were visited and displays made, mostly if not all on time. A remarkable achievement.
The No.2 Tour started at HOLT FARM, Southend, also in ESSEX on the 14th April. This Tour was planned to visit 161 venues. The difference being that the No.2 Tour had far fewer two-day events in the schedule. The final display was at MAYLANDS aerodrome, Romford, ESSEX, also on the 8th October.
Although the Cobham Tours are now regarded as being the defining period of the "Flying Circus" era in the 1930s, only four Tours were organised, and the double Tours in 1933 were the most ambitious with 277 venues planned. The first Tour in 1932 was intended to visit 174 venues, and the 1934 Tour 159. The last Tour in 1935, divided into two tours in July came close, with 244 venues in the schedule.
