Note: This map only shows the position of Chitterne village within the UK. If anyone could kindly provide a more exact location, this advice will be most welcome.

CHITTERNE: Military airstrip

Military user: US First Army ‘XIX’ Corps 228th Field Artillery Group 978^th Field Artillery Battalion

Location: On Salisbury Plain, near to Chitterne village and the B390, roughly 7nm E of Warminster

Period of operation: 1944/5 only?

NOTES: It appears two Piper L-4 Grasshoppers were based here.
