CHITTERNE: Military airstrip

Military user: US First Army ‘XIX’ Corps 228th Field Artillery Group 978th Field Artillery Battalion
 

Location: On Salisbury Plain, near to Chitterne village and the B390, roughly 7nm E of Warminster

Period of operation: 1944/5 only?
 

NOTES: It appears two Piper L-4 Grasshoppers were based here.
