A Guide to the history of British flying sites within the United Kingdom

Church Farm, South Burlingham

CHURCH FARM: Private helicopter landing area

Operated by: 2000: Mr M J Flynn

Location: In/near South Burlingham, 7nm E of Norwich city centre according to one flight guide. I’d reckon it more like 8nm ESE of Norwich but maybe that’s being nitpicking

Landing area: 2 acre grass landing area

NOTES: I have included a fair few private helicopter landing sites because they constitute a large proportion of ‘British Flying Sites’. However, as far as I’m aware there is no register of these sites and it is therefore difficult if not impossible to estimate the number used over the last fifty years.

I wouldd reckon a very conservative estimate would be two to three thousand but perhaps a more realistic estimate would be between three and five thousand? Perhaps a lot more because, lets face it, the whole idea of owning a helicopter is you can drop in to visit almost anywhere.
