Operated by: 2000: Mr G J Slater (GS Aviation)

Flying club/school: 2005: GS Aviation (Europe)
Note:  From 2000 a full time microlight school was operating here

Location: 2nm SSW of Marlborough

Period of operation: From 2000 (?) to -

Runways: 2000: 05/23   360x20   grass           16/34   380x20   grass

2001: 05/23   335x28   grass          16/34   396x28   grass

2006: 05/23    330   grass          16/34    390   grass

(Does make me wonder exactly why these runway dimensions derived from published various sources vary?)

NOTES: In 2005 the Tecnam series of aircraft were being marketed in the UK from here.

Also, in the AAIB Bulletin EW/G2007/08/28 an accident report states, “He made two approaches to land on Runway 25.” Thank heavens we have the AAIB when it comes to really serious stuff, but they do make a lot of mistakes, or don't bother checking, when it comes to GA incidents and accidents.

OVERTON HEATH
I wonder if this airfield is on part of the WW2 OVERTON HEATH airfield? If not it is very close and adjacent to the eastern side. Perhaps somebody can kindly clear this up?

I am an instructor at GS Aviation - please note runway 05/23 is no longer there and has been replaced by the east/west runway 08/26 which can be seen in the photo. 08/26 is 443m and 15/33 (changed due to variation) is 396m

Reply from Dick Flute:
Hi Chris, Many thanks, I shall keep your advice posted. As you might well imagine, producing an historical 'Guide' which includes sites still operating, is always a problem. Your kindness is much appreciated. Best regards, Dick
