Coate Water

COATE WATER:  Temporary Landing Ground

Period of operation:  27th July 1912

NOTES:  Whilst searching the inter-web for another site I came across this mention of a Blériot landing here, attracting a crowd of some 35,000.

It was on a flight, according to local news reports, sponsored by the Daily Mail. Henri Salmet had flown down to the West Country in a Blériot, sponsored by the Daily Mail in May 1912, so it seems unlikely he returned again a month so so later?

What I find very interesting is that the local press described the Blériot as being the "Daily Mail airship".

If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
