Location given places it near Fairmile which until recently (late '80s) housed an MOD establishment called 'RAE Cobham'

Hi. I have just come across your website whilst looking for a list of airfields, air strips and farm strips in Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. I presently live in Southend in Essex but am looking to move home into one of the three counties above and am looking to either acquire an airstrip or airfield or live very close to one. I note that Monewden air strip in Suffolk is not on your list. Would I therefore be correct in assuming that you are not including small private air strips on your list? I would very much appreciate a reply from you. Thank you. Adrian Pierce

Reply from Dick Flute:
Hi Adrian, Many thanks for getting in touch. Small private airfields and strips are most certainly included and indeed, I already have several hundred listed going back to the 1920s. However, this 'Guide' is far from complete and I have several hundred more listings to add. I shall now look at Monewden. Best regards, Dick

I understand that this airfield was where the Chelsea training ground is now, next to Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon train station.
