Location:  Just W to SSW of Compton Dando village, about 2.5nm SSW of Keynsham and roughly 6nm SE to SSE of Bristol city centre

Period of operation:   Unknown?

Runway:  Not defined. But, the 2021 picture appears to show something akin to a runway running roughly 06/24 and about 360 metres long.

NOTES: We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide' to thank for pointing out this location. And, must admit from just the picture evidence, would have been rather reluctant to add this. However, he pointed me to this account by Mr Steve Slade, one of the most accomplished microlight pilots in the U.K. Indeed, amongst other notable achievements, holding a Guiness Book of Records listing for the greatest number of circuits flown in one hour.

In 2008, in aid of 'Help for Heroes' he landed at 114 airfields in one day, and had this to say: "Of the 114 airfields I flew into yesterday, the shortest was 200m but the most difficult was Compton Dando near Bristol: 400m long (guesstimate), wires just short of the threshold, trees on both sides, undulating and bumpy."

Without any doubt whatsover, the microlight community in the UK are setting about establishing a new regime for light aircraft. So inventive, always looking for new challenges and opportunities.
