Conock

CONOCK: Private airstrip   (Also known as CONOCK MANOR)

Operated by: Mr Robert Smith-Barry

Location: Beside the A342 Devizes to Upavon route

Period of operation: Probably 1930s only?

NOTES: Mr Smith-Barry was a pupil on the first course held at the Central Flying School at UPAVON in 1912 and he subsequently become a RFC pilot and instructor. It is reported that he  occasionally/often flew from CONOCK MANOR with a DH80A Puss Moth to UPAVON. In  fact it is claimed that it is was to UPAVON that he reported to when rejoining the RAF in 1940.
