Operated by:   Lord Rotherwick

Location:  S of the B4437, about 2nm WSW of Charlbury and 5nm S to SSE of Chipping Norton town centre

Period of operation:  Around 2020 to -

Runway:   18/36   650   grass

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide' to thank for pointing out this location.

With so many of GA flying sites under threat, it is great news to find a new location being established. As there is a 'glamping site' close by, and music festivals have been held in the estate, perhaps this indicates that visiting aircraft will be welcome.

It is also rather nice, for this 'Guide', to be able to show a properly prepared strip being laid out. Assuming the dating on Google Earth is fairly reliable (?), there is no evidence of this strip being laid out in 2017. The 2018 picture shows the runway being levelled before being sown. The 2019 picture shows the grass becoming well established although the trees on short finals to runway 18 had still to be trimmed back.

So, it appears fairly safe to assume the airstrip became operational in 2020? As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.

AN UPDATE

Later Graham Frost sent me a picture showing the hangar. This being ommited in the pictures above. Again, if the Google Earth dating system can be relied upon, (which it often cannot be), the hangar was built in 2019. Quite a decent size too, suggesting a few aircraft can be accommodated.
