Military user: RNAS  (Royal Naval Air Service)
 

Location: Just N of Cromarty town, E of the harbour  

Period of operation: 1913 to 1915, also 1917 certainly?

NOTES: Some years ago I made this note: "I found a record in a 1917 edition of Janes which led me to believe there was also a land based military airfield near Cromarty in 1917 - any ideas?"

It is of course just a guess, but the aerial pictures of 'The Links' above show a very suitable area for land based aircraft to land on.
