Location:  About 0.5nm S of the A66, roughly 3nm ESE of Penrith town centre

Period of operation:  c.2014 to -

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for providing this location. No doubt known by another name locally? There is no intention to even try and list all the private helipads in the U.K., just a few examples being provided. This said, what a great example this is of a really well prepared helipad. A credit to those involved.

I have banged on elsewhere about the creation of 'false' counties being created in the U.K. after WW2. CUMBRIA being one of them. The fact is that the original Counties still exist, and it appears that only an Act of Parliament can change them. These 'new' Counties being purely created for administrative purposes by the 'pen-pushing' brigades involved, and no doubt very useful in covering their tracks over the years? In some cases of course.

In this case however, very convenient for me as this location appears to be on the border between CUMBERLAND and WESTMORLAND. But, I really should mention, that in creating this 'Guide', a large amount of the listings existed when only the original Counties were recognised.
