Crowthorne

CROWTHORNE: Freefall parachute team display site

Location: Wellington College

Period of operation: May 2004

NOTES: I have included this to illustrate just how difficult it is to truly define UK flying sites. In the latter half of the 20th century parachuting had developed so much that experienced parachutists now have a considerable degree of control over their descent with arguably more control than the early aviators had flying their aircraft for example.

It therefore stands to reason that modern parachutists deserve to be regarded as aviators within the wide ranging terms of this 'Guide' at least. I realise it is still probably a contentious issue but I trust you will agree at least one mention is deserved to illustrate this point.
