Culmstock Beacon

Note: This map only shows the position of Culmstock Beacon within the UK. If anybody can kindly offer advice regarding the actual gliding site, this will be most welcome.

CULMSTOCK BEACON: Gliding site

Operated by:  Taunton Vale Gliding Club

NOTES:  This information was found in the 1957 The Aeroplane directory, and a very sparse entry it is too.

A search on the web revealed some old colour 'Super 8' movie footage, mostly taken at DUNKESWELL in the 1950s or 60s. The glider types being operated are mostly if not all Slingsby models and I think the two-seaters could well be T.21Bs?

It appears that Taunton Vale G.C. probably merged with, or became, Devon and Somerset Gliding Club.
