Cumbernauld model flying
CUMBERNAULD MODEL FLYING: Large model flying site
Note: The first five pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©.
Note: The area view is from my Google Earth © derived database.
Operated by: Cumbernauld Model Flying Club
Location: Just SE of Cumbernauld town centre
Period of operation: Unknown? Certainly in the 21st century
NOTES: We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for pointing out this location. Clearly one of the biggest model flying sites in the UK, unfortunately the information on their website gives no history. It is very unusual in having a hard runway; 07/25 60 metres long. Another unusual feature is the 'strip' of around 175 metres to the west of the site visible in the 2005 and 2009 pictures. What might have been the purpose of this?
As always, if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be most welcome. Pictures are always much appreciated.
