Cumnor

Note: This map only shows the position of Cumnor village within the UK.

CUMNOR: Military Relief Landing Ground?

Military user: Oxford UAS  (University Air Squadron)   1937

Location: Presumably near the A420/B4017 junction today, in/near Cumnor, roughly 3nm SW of Oxford city centre

NOTES: The question has been raised whether this location could have been later known as STANTON HARCOURT airfield. The villages of Cumnor and Stanton Harcourt are very nearly three miles apart - so a difficult call perhaps in this case. This said STANTON HARCOURT was SW of that village and 5nm from Oxford city centre so it seems unlikely they were one and the same site?

If anybody can kindly offer advice on this, it will be most welcome.
