DARTFORD: Temporary aerodrome?

NOTES: On the 13th October 1932 Sir Alan Cobham’s National Aviation Day UK Display Tour performed at/in/near Dartford.

I had once thought, according to my notes; "Surely this has to be JOYCE GREEN but can anybody now confirm this?" Experience has since taught me to be very wary about making such assumptions, as the 'Flying Circus' operators tended to avoid using established aerodromes. For several good reasons, not least the lower costs and the ability to run the 'show' on their own terms and conditions. This said, as mentioned many times elsewhere in this 'Guide', all these late 1920s and 1930s sites were licensed aerodromes, even if only used for one day!

And indeed, on the 7th October 1933 Cobham’s No.2 Tour displayed at Dartford after flying around most of the UK prior to their last display at MAYLANDS aerodrome in Romford on the 8th October having started their Tour on the 14th & 15th April at HOLT FARM Southend.
