Note: This picture was scanned from the November 2017 AAIB Bulletin, and was reproduced courtesy of QinetiQ.

Location: Roughly 1nm NNE of Dinton village, about 7.5nm WNW of Salisbury city centre

Period of operation: ?  (In 2016 certainly)

Runway:  08/26   470   grass

NOTES: Information source AAIB report EW/C2016/07/01. This report was in regard to a very serious crash involving the Yak-52, G-YAKB after suffering an engine failure, in which one of the pilots sadly died.

It appears from the report that the original intention was to land in a large field, but the airstrip was spotted late in the descent and, quite clearly was a better option. It seems to remain something of a mystery as to why two highly experienced pilots, working together to handle the emergency, lost control.
