Docking

DOCKING: Military aerodrome      (Aka CHOSELEY FARM)

Note: This picture (2007) was obtained from Google Earth ©

As can be seen, nothing appears to remain of this WW2 airfield. Which in itself is quite unusual. As a general rule some features can usually be made out.

Military users: WW2: RAF Coastal Command        16 (GR) Group

304 (Polish) Sqdn    (Vickers Wellingtons)

23 Group

1525 BAT Flt

Location: NE of Docking village, east of the B1153 and roughly 10nm NW of Fakenham

Period of operation: 1940 to 1958

Runways: NE/SW   1582   grass           E/W   1280   grass
                N/S   1006   grass

NOTES: It appears the Fakenham Flying Group were operating at least one aircraft, the Tiger Moth G-ANCS, from here before and during 1957. They then transferred to LITTLE SNORING in late 1957. It seems they didn’t stay long, moving on to FOULSHAM probably in early 1958?
