Douglas perhaps

Note: This map only gives the position of Douglas within the UK.

DOUGLAS? (Location unknown, probably near to Douglas?)

NOTES: Commencing in 1919 the Avro Civil Aviation service operated regular services to the Isle of Man from Lake Windemere using floatplanes. But where did they land?

AVOIDING SWELL
One thing I have learnt over the years having done a bit of floatplane flying, is that a sea swell must be avoided. These conditions pretty much guarantee that the aeroplane will capsize.

As Douglas Bay is sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds, and therefore free of sea swell much of the time, this would appear to be the obvious destination. Plus of course these passengers would have had all the glamour and glitz that Douglas, as the capital city of the Isle of Man, had to offer.

PORT ERRIN
You might like to look at my listing for PORT ERRIN, which it seems was only operational for one day by Avro in 1919.
