Dunchurch

Note: This map only shows the location of Dunchurch village within the UK. I wonder if anybody today can offer a more exact site where he landed? If so, this advice will be most welcome.

DUNCHURCH: Temporary landing ground

NOTES: On the 17th April 1911 Claude Grahame-White was flying his Farman from HENDON to BOURNVILLE as the Birmingham Aero Club had invited him to open their second aviation exhibition. It seems they’d expected him to arrive by train!

It appears that he landed near DUNCHURCH in order to obtain more petrol then landed at SPARKHILL near Birmingham to get directions for BOURNVILLE.
