East Brighton Park

EAST BRIGHTON PARK: Emergency helipad(s)

Note:  These pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

The first picture (2013) shows some odd features at the southern end of the site. Are these intended to be helipads? If not - what? The second picture shows what looks to me to be a definite double helipad? This first appearing in 2014.

Prior to this, looking back through Google Earth images, I can find no evidence of any marked helipad.

Location: Just ENE of Brighton city centre

Period of operation:  Early 1970s to -

NOTES:  In February 2019 I was very kindly contacted by Paul Steadman who told me: "There is an emergency helipad in East Brighton Park, which has been used for many years (at least from the early 1970s) by Police Air Service, Air Ambulance, RAF/RN Air/Sea Rescue and Coastguard. It is also frequently used by other military helicopters visiting the area (including a regular visit by an RAF Chinook)."
