Location:  Just SW of Thornhill on the A873, about 9.5nm WNW of Stirling town centre

Period of operation:  1990s (?) to -

Runways:  2006    06/24   1140   grass              10/28   590   grass

                 2017    06/24   710   grass                10/28   590   grass

NOTES:  The 2006 aerial picture shows a runway 1140 metres long. Quite narrow for a runway this long but of a length quite unusual for a private site. Raises the question regarding what type of aircraft was expected to use this?

Presumably the aircraft in the 2017 detail is a Piper PA-18 Super Cub? Could be a J/3C Cub of course but these days, in the UK at least, these are rarely painted white.

As always in this 'Guide' any advice will be much appreciated. As will any pictures if somebody can kindly provide them.

After adding this listing in October 2020, Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide' found this this picture and information from the Scottish Airsports web-site:  www.scottishairsports.co.uk

"Based at Easter Polder Farm, (formerly home to the Stirling Parachute Centre), the Scottish Airsports Club has 1200 metre and 600 metre grass runways and facilities for the launching of numerous craft, including aerotowed hangliders, winch-launched hangliders and paragliders, powered hangliders and paragliders. microlights, sailplanes and small light aircraft. Members pay an annual subscription of £50, plus £15 every month, and there is rentable hangar space available for microlights and hangliders."
