ECCLES TOFT: Military Landing Ground

Military user: RFC/RAF   (Royal Flying Corps, later Royal Air Force)

77 [Home Defence] Sqdn    (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2 and B.E.12 types)

Location: Apparently S of the River Tweed, near Fox Covert, roughly N of Sprouston on the B6350, and about 2nm NE of Kelso?
Note: Later information places this WW1 airfield on the later WW2 CHARTER HALL airfield.

Period of operation: 1917 to 1919

Site area: 110 acres       594 x 777

NOTES: Trying to pin down a location for this airfield seems akin to brushing water uphill. And I am not endowed with an excess of patience. If anybody can kindly offer advice on this, it will be much appreciated.
