NOTES: In recent years this airfield has become something of a 'home' for Auster aircraft. A centre of excellence for this classic British type.
I do not expect anybody is even slightly interested, but, this is my web-site! My first flight in a light aircraft was from LOCKING (Weston-super-Mare), as a lad, for a 'pleasure flight' in an Auster.
I was quite cheesed off as, another adult turned up which put me in the rear seat - and not next to the pilot which is where I really, really wanted to be. But, once we took-off I was enthralled by the ever expanding view. Something that never went away, even after becoming a pilot many years later.
A BROUSSARD
Certainly a claim to fame in recent years is that a very rare flying example of the French Max Holste MH.15212 Broussard is based here. The French military equivalent of the De Havilland (Canada) DHC-2 Beaver. Well worth comparing the performance of these two types, ostensibly for similar duties.
