Farningham flying sites

Note: This map only shows the position of Farningham within the UK.

FARNINGHAM: Military Flight Station and Landing Ground

Military user: RFC Home Defence Flight Station (1915 to 1916)

50 [Home Defence] Sqdn  (1916 to 1917)
Note: Apparently operating a mixture of aircraft including Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2 and B.E.12 types, plus the Armstrong Whitworth F.K..8

Location: Adjacent to Farningham Road railway station, (as was?). Farningham is on the A20 close to the A225 junction, roughly 2nm ESE of Swanley. And, just S of the M20/M25 junctions.

Period of operation: 1915 to 1917

FARNINGHAM: Helipad

NOTES: In 2006 Rotorvation Helicopters were based at ROCHESTER and FARNINGHAM. The exact location for this helipad isn’t known, but could it possibly be on the WW1 site?
