PERSONAL MEMORIES
In April 2000 I was given the job of moving the Piper PA-22-108 Colt G-ARNG from SHOREHAM (SUSSEX) to FARTHING CORNER. The owner of the Colt seemed quite surprised that I knew of his aeroplane, but I had noticed it whilst delivering another aircraft to SHOREHAM, just a week or so before.

Hi, I was the occupant of the strip during the eighties. I rented it from Harry Foulds and took the rent from the other aeroplane owners on the strip. Then it was still a strip with only the 250 yard long strip used the longer one rarely used, although we did have one visitor with a Beech Sierra four up! They went off to visit the Kent show. On there return I was concerned about the length of the run but the pilot assured me there was no problem. He started the run from the hangar heading north in sweeping turn to the end of the field by which time he was at full power and a few seconds later he had departed [Stoneacre as we called it] full of sound and fury. Flying my Cub was small beer after that.Aah! Stoneacre was my Camelot I mourn for it daily.
