Feshiebridge

FEISHIEBRIDGE: Gliding site (also known as AVIEMORE, FESHIE & KINCRAIG, KINCRAIG and FESHIEBRIDGE)

Note: Previously listed as AVIEMORE. Not exactly amended as 'quick as a flash', after four years I have got around to heeding the 'Comment' by Gary Brindle below. No excuse as such, but with over 5000 other sites to deal with - it can take a while.

Operated by: 1980s: Mr J Williamson

1990: Miss Jane Williamson (Inverness-shire & Cairngorn Gliding Club

2000: Cairngorm Gliding Club

Location: 0.5nm SSE of Feshiebridge, 1.5nm SE of Loch Insh

Runways: 1990:   02/20    670    grass

2000: 03/21   800x5   grass

2001: 03/21   900x8   grass

NOTES: A runway five metres wide is often thought to be akin to trying to land on tramlines. Oddly enough, having landed a few times on very narrow runways, I reckon it is rather easier than using wider runways that are unmarked. But, they can be tricky in a strong crosswind.

Feshiebridge is the usual title for this gliding club base. Even a DC 3 has used the strip which is very active.
