Filkins

Note: This map only gives a position for Filkins village within the UK. A good look at Google Earth in 2016 shows no obvious evidence of a suitable location, but many possible can be seen. If anybody can offer a more precise location, this advice will be most welcome.

FILKINS: Temporary landing site

Location: Near Lechlade

NOTES: Info from AAIB report EW/G2007/07/11. Just one of several botched landing attempts at one of many temporary landing sites seen over several decades, both fixed wing and rotary. Typically as in this case, a large field. Rather unusually, the aircraft involved in this accident was designed for exactly this sort of exercise, it being a Beagle Aircraft E3 (Auster AOP 11).
