Fillongley Hall

FILLONGLEY HALL:  Private airstrip

Note:  All three of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

Location:  About 1nm NW of Fillongley village, roughly 6.5nm NE of Birmingham International Airport and 7nm NW of Coventry city centre

Period of operation:  Unknown? As the Google Earth © picture shows, it was still operational in 2010, but had gone by 2013.

Runway:  07/25   800   grass

NOTES:   In detail this is a most interesting site. There is no sign of a hangar and a 800 metre runway indicates possible use by serious single-engine types and quite likely many twin engine types? However, the 1999 picture shows the western end of the runway looking pretty rough. But the 2010 picture shows it being i much better condition.

Could it be that this runway was prepared for use only when favoured guests were expected to arrive? At Fillongley Hall perhaps?

As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
