A Guide to the history of British flying sites within the United Kingdom

Fort George

Note: Trying to pin this down is very frustrating indeed. All I can say is, in 2016, this map only gives a very rough position within the UK. Good enough for this 'Guide' of course, but hardly satisfactory. If anybody could kindly help to sort this out, the advice will be most welcome.

FORT GEORGE: Early aerodrome

NOTES: It appears that in 1911 the Hampshire Aero Club was formed at Fort George, Gosport. Strictly speaking I suppose this listing should be GOSPORT (?) but it does appear that in the early days the site was known as FORT GEORGE. Can anybody confirm if this is correct?

See the GOSPORT listing for more information
