Garforth Hilton Hotel

HILTON NATIONAL HOTEL: Private helipad

Operated by: 1992: Hilton Hotels

2000: Ladbroke Hotels & Holidays

2016: Holiday Inn

Location: Near junction of A63 & A642, W side of Garforth, 5nm E of Leeds city centre

Landing area: 30m diameter landing pad (hard?)

NOTES: There is clearly something rather odd going in the hotel business when it comes to the major players, which seems to go against normal practice. It seems that having found a successful and profitable hotel, it then gets sold to a major competitor! I have found this happening time and time again when trying to assign an operator to a hotel helipad or, at least, a helicopter landing area.

I don't think this happens much in retailing? In our area of West London at least, there have been no examples of TESCO selling out a site to Sainsburys, or Waitrose etc.

THE HELIPAD
A look at Google Earth in 2016, (image date 2008), appears to show evidence of what may well be a helipad on the north side of the site, except that I cannot see an 'H' marked. Can anybody offer more info?
