Note:   These three pictures are from my Google Earth © derived database.

Operated by:   Presumably (?) Mr Frank Sanderson

Location:  Just SW of Milport on Great Cumbrae Island, 4.5nm SW of Largs town centre and about 25nm WSW of Glasgow city centre

Period of operation:  1971 to 1974 only?

Runway:  Looking at the first picture above, (even today in 2023), there appears to be in the west side of the field, enough room for a strip of about 400 metres orientated about 16/34

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for finding this location. This came about when he noticed that a Mr Frank Sanderson had the Auster J/1N Autocrat, G-AIBW, registered to him from 11.11.71 to 07.10.74.  His address being:  Westbourne House, Great Cumbrae, Buteshire.

This is of course, in itself, no proof that he had a strip here? Or that he based his Auster here. However, as pointed out above, there certainly appears to have been enough room. 400 metres is more than enough for operating an Auster Autocrat from.

As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
