Gresford

Note: This map only gives the location of Gresford within the UK. If anybody could be kind enough to offer a more precise position for this airstrip, this advice will be most welcome.

GRESFORD: Private airstrip

Operated by: Mr D E Evans, Mr W J A Huxley and Mr A G Fowles?

Location: In/near Gresford roughly 2.5nm NNE of Wrexham

Runway: In Popular Flying Jan 2007 listed as a “400 yard grass strip airfield”

NOTES: I’m probably being hopelessly romantic here but in the mid 1970s the Luton L.A.4a Minor G-AVDY was apparently based here registered to the three gentlemen listed above. I would like to think these three got together due to their love of flying such a basic classic type, created a strip, and thoroughly enjoyed flying it on gentle weather days.

In 2006 it appears that an Auster J/1N and a  ⅞ scale SE.5A were also based here. More information will  be much appreciated.
