Gretna flying sites

Note: Judging from photographs this map shows what looks like a suitable area for the venue used by the North British Aviation Co, and for that matter by Colonel the Master of Semphill. However, any advice on this will be most welcome.

GRETNA: Temporary landing ground

NOTES: It appears that Colonel the Master of Semphill landed near here en route in the DH60 Moth G-EBMO whilst en route from Land’s End to John O’Groats on the 29th September 1926.

GRETNA GREEN: Temporary aerodrome

Operated by: North British Aviation Co

Location: “Adjoining Famous Blacksmith’s Shop” according to a poster

Period of operation: May 20th & 21st 1931

NOTES: Venue during their ‘Tour of Britain’.
