Grittleton

Note: This map only shows the postion of Grittleton village within the UK.

GRITTLETON: Private helipad

Operated by: Dr M Moore

Location: In/near Grittleton village, roughly 3nm W of RAF HULLAVINGTON

Period of operation: ?

Landing area:   Grass   185x185

NOTES:  Selected pretty much at random, this private helipad is included in this 'Guide' simply to illustrate the fact that a large number of private helipads exist throughout the UK, although the majority will be in England.

It should also be borne in mind that having a helipad does not automatically infer that a helicopter is based at the site. In fact, in many if not most instances the helicopter will be based somewhere with maintenance facilities and fuel. Equally, having a helipad does not infer that the helipad owner is a helicopter owner and/or pilot.

Indeed, many wealthy people have a helipad so that a commercially hired helicopter can transport them with maximum convenienience and speed, for a variety of reasons either for business or recreational purposes.

I wonder if anybody can kindly offer advice regarding roughly how many strictly private helipads, (or landing areas), there actually are in the UK?
