GROSVENOR SQUARE: Balloon ascent
Location: In the 'West End' of central London, E of Park Lane and S of Oxford Street
NOTES: It appears that in 1802 the French aeronaut Andre-Jacques Garnerin made a balloon ascent from the ‘Volunteer Ground’ Grosvenor Square, and then made a parachute descent into a field near St Pancras.
